Nashik On High Alert After Operation Sindoor: Security Tightened At Key Establishments
India responded strongly to the Pahalgam attack by attacking terrorist camps in Pakistan through ‘Operation Sindoor’ in the early hours of Wednesday. After this operation, security forces across the country have been put on alert, and mock drills and blackouts are being organised. After Mumbai, Pune and Ahilyanagar in Maharashtra, Nashik also has important offices of military forces. Due to this, special precautions are being taken in Nashik. Since the production and training of fighter aircrafts is done at Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL), School of Artillery and Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), the security arrangements have been tightened further.
Tight security at sensitive places in Nashik
The Nashik Police Commissionerate had announced the list of major sensitive places within the Commissionerate limits in 2022 itself. This includes the police, army, air force, Chalartha Patra Press, Bharat Pratibhuti Press and temples. The use of drones and flying equipment is prohibited in this area and within its two-kilometre airspace. For many years, flying drones without permission has been prohibited within the limits of Nashik Police Commissionerate. During the Covid period, there was an attempt to fly drones without permission in the area of the Maharashtra Police Academy. Since then, the police system has become more vigilant, and restrictions on drone use have been tightened further.
Restrictions on drones and flying equipment
The use of drones, paragliders, paramotors, hot air balloons, microlights and aircraft is completely prohibited in sensitive areas of Nashik city. Prior permission from the Police Commissionerate is required for using drones in other places. Drone operators and owners are required to attach the venue, date, time, drone details, operator name, address, contact number and photocopy of training in the application.
Security increased at key locations
A high alert has been issued across the country after the destruction of terror camps in Pakistan under ‘Operation Sindoor’. Security has been increased at important central government factories in Nashik. Teams of experts from HAL’s fighter aircraft manufacturing factory have been deployed at fighter aircraft bases across the country. Security has also been tightened at important establishments related to the finance department like Chalartha Patra Press, Bharat Pratibhuthi Press and Gandhinagar Press.
Artillery training of trainees was intensified at the School of Artillery in Lohashingwe. An artillery demonstration was also conducted in this area this morning. Security has also been increased at the grain and fuel storage sheds at Manmad, which supply Marathwada. Security arrangements have also been strengthened at the railway engine factory, Ekalhare Thermal Power Station, Manmad and Nashik Road railway stations.
Administration ready to face the disaster
Collector Jalaj Sharma said that after ‘Operation Sindoor’, the central government has issued a high alert across the country. The district administration in Nashik has also been alerted. Although new guidelines have not been received from the Centre yet, the agencies are ready to face any emergency. Police, Civil Defence Force, Health, Fire, National Service Scheme (NSS) and National Cadre Corps (NCC) have been instructed to be ready.
Disaster management tested through mock drills
Pakistan is firing on the Line of Control (LoC), and India is giving a befitting reply to it. Since the possibility of an air strike by Pakistan cannot be ruled out, the Centre has ordered all states to be prepared. Mock drills were conducted at 244 places across the country on Wednesday. Mock drills were also conducted in Nashik to show the preparedness of the systems in case of a disaster. Mock drills were conducted at three places including KTHM College.
Important security decisions
- Drone ban: Complete ban on flying drones in Nashik city.
- Mock Drill: Mock drills organised by the Civil Defence Force.
- Military Helicopter Patrol: Patrols by military helicopters in urban areas.

Appeal to Citizens
Collector Jalaj Sharma has appealed to the citizens not to believe in rumours and follow the instructions of the administration. He has said that the security system in Nashik is fully prepared and the citizens should cooperate without panicking.
