Maddock Films, bankrolling the project, made the announcement on their social media platforms. It read: “In light of recent events and heightened security drills across the nation, we at Maddock Films and Amazon MGM Studios have decided to bring our family entertainer, Bhool Chuk Maaf, directly to your homes on May 16—only on Prime Video worldwide. While we were eagerly looking forward to celebrating this film with you in theatres, the spirit of the nation comes first. Jai Hind!”

The film, starring Rajkummar Rao and Wamiqa Gabbi, was initially slated to hit the silver screens on May 9.

A feud has long existed between neighbouring countries India and Pakistan, but tensions increased when Lashkar-e-Taiba’s The Resistance Front attacked Pahalgam’s Baisaran Valley on April 22, claiming the lives of 26 souls. In response, India launched Operation Sindoor in the wee hours of Wednesday morning, targeting nine terror sites in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.

About Bhool Chuk Maaf

Ranjan makes a vow to Lord Shiva to help him land a government job as a prerequisite for marriage to his love Titli, but to his luck, he forgets it. This unfortunate scenario lands him in a Groundhog Day situation—reliving his haldi day on a loop—until he fulfils his vow. Directed by Karan Sharma, the film also features Seema Pahwa, Zakir Hussain, and Raghubir Yadav.
