Pune: Khadki Metro Station To Start Operations By May-End; Range Hills Station To Take Two More Years
In good news for the commuters who rely on public transport in Pune, the much-awaited Khadki Metro Station will be operational by the end of May. However, operations at the Range Hills Station will begin after two years as the work has not started yet, said a metro official on Thursday.
Hemant Sonawane, Executive Director (Administration and Public Relations), Pune Metro, speaking to The Free Press Journal said, "Khadki Metro Station will be operational soon as almost 99 per cent work has been completed. The inspection work is in progress. Once it gets clearance from the team, it will probably be started by the end of May. Commuters were facing inconvenience. However, it will be a relief for them to travel in the metro amid the summer heat."
Speaking about the Range Hills Station, Sonawane said, "It will take approximately two years to complete the Range Hills Station as the work has not been started yet due to some issues. Our priority is to provide better connectivity and facilities in public transport for commuters."
The Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) to Swargate Metro Station route became fully operational on September 24, 2024. But Khadki and Range Hills Stations remain non-functional because of the delay in completion, causing inconvenience to the commuters. Passengers are forced to travel from Shivajinagar to Bopodi to take the metro.
