Odisha Government to Take Action against Schools Defying Heatwave Closure Orders

Bhubaneswar: The School and Mass Education Department has directed District Education Officers (DEOs) to take immediate and stringent action against schools defying the state’s order to close from April 22, 2025, due to the ongoing heatwave.

Despite the government’s directive to shut all government, aided, and private schools as a precaution against extreme temperatures, some institutions continue to operate, endangering students’ safety, informed Additional Secretary Durga Prasad Mohapatra through a letter to DEOs.

He emphasized strict compliance and instructed the DEOs to monitor schools closely to enforce the summer vacation guidelines without exception.
