Teen Girl Shot Dead While Making ‘Reel’ In Rewa; Police Probing All Angles
Rewa (Madhya Pradesh): An 18-year-old girl was shot dead while making a social media reel at her maternal home in Busaul village under Semaria police station in Rewa district. The victim, Mahi Singh Baghel, hailed from Mahurch village in Satna’s Rampur Baghelan area and had come to attend a wedding with her mother.
The incident occurred Thursday afternoon when Mahi was alone at home, while the rest of the family was preparing for the wedding. She was reportedly filming a reel when a sudden gunshot rang out, killing her on the spot.
Police arrived shortly after being informed and sent the body to Sanjay Gandhi Hospital for postmortem. Authorities are investigating whether the death was accidental or a case of suicide, and are trying to determine the legality of the firearm involved.
Mahi’s father, Randev Singh Baghel, said he had no knowledge of the weapon or how the incident occurred. Additional SP Vivek Lal stated that only a thorough investigation will reveal the cause of the firing.
Criminal celebrates jail release with cake and gunfire, re-arrested by police
Notorious criminal Babu Parihar, who celebrated his release from jail by cutting a cake and firing in the air, has been re-arrested by Kolgawan police. A video of the celebration in Naya Basti had gone viral, prompting swift police action.
Parihar had earlier cut a cake on the street with friends and fired several rounds in the air. In a symbolic move, police made him cut another cake this time with "Jail" written on it before sending him back to prison in handcuffs.
A country-made 315 bore pistol was recovered from him. One of his associates from the celebration has also been arrested. Police Station in-charge Sudeep Soni confirmed a case has been registered and further investigation is underway.
