Road beautification work underway in Yamunanagar, Jagadhri
The beautification work of three main roads in the twin cities of Yamunanagar and Jagadhri is in progress.
The beautification work of these roads is being done by the Municipal Corporation, Yamunanagar-Jagadhri (MCYJ), under the Divya Nagar Yojana at a cost of Rs 7.19 crore.
Gymkhana Club Road and Jagadhri Workshop Road have been reconstructed, but decorative lights have been installed on all three roads, including Govindpuri Road from Madhu Hotel to Bhai Kanhaiya Sahib Chowk.
Tiles have been laid on the footpath on one side of Gymkhana Club Road and the work of laying red stone tiles is being done on the other side (side of Sector 17) of the road. At the same time, beautiful and attractive benches will also be placed for seating purposes on the footpaths. The trees planted on the footpaths of Gymkhana Club Road have been trimmed and the boundaries made.
Now, the work on boundaries of the trees has begun on Jagadhri Workshop Road. “Soon all three roads will become beautiful and attractive,” said Municipal Commissioner Ayush Sinha.
He said under the Divya Nagar Yojana, the MCYJ was beautifying Gymkhana Club Road at a cost of Rs 2.25 crore , Workshop Road from Shahid Bhagat Singh Chowk to Maharana Pratap Chowk at a cost of Rs 3.78 crore and Govindpuri Road from Madhu Chowk to Kanhaiya Sahib Chowk at a cost of Rs 81 lakh.
“Fancy lights have been installed on all three routes by the MCYJ. Footpaths are being made for pedestrians. Benches will be installed at various places on the footpaths for the pedestrians to sit,” said Sinha.
He said they were trying to make the twin cities clean, neat, beautiful and attractive.
He further said old streetlights from all roads were removed and new fancy lights installed.
“At night, all three roads look beautiful with these fancy lights,” said Sinha.
He said new plants would be planted to enhance greenery on the roads.
He added that the boundaries of trees would be painted and awareness messages written on these.
