Vet university students bag four medals at inter-agri varsity meet

The students of Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (GADVASU), Ludhiana, participated in the XXII All-India Inter-Agricultural Universities Sports and Games Meet and won four medals—two team golds, an individual silver and bronze.

A total of 40 students (25 boys and 15 girls) took part in the meet, which was organised by Acharya Narendra University of Agriculture and Technology Kumarganj, Ayodhya, UP.

Sportspersons represented the university in various events and brought laurels to the institution. The students emerged winners in the basketball men’s category and badminton women’s section. The students also won two medals in athletics, including a silver in shot put (men’s) and a bronze in discus throw (men’s).

Agam Singh, the captain of the basketball team, said the hard work of the team had brought out good result. “It was a team effort. We are looking forward to clinching more titles,” he added.

The badminton women’s team, comprising Jaismeen Kaur, Rohita, Anshika, Anushika, were after bagging a gold and said, “Winning is always special and we delivered our best in the match. Victory always motivates us, but the weight of expectations also increase,” said they.

Sourav Uppal, who won a silver medal in shot put, and Sahil Sharma, who won a bronze in discus throw, were all smiles after winning and said they were motivated to push their limits and work harder.

Vice-Chancellor Jatinder Paul Singh Gill congratulated the contingent. He said the students had showing exemplary achievements in sports, as well as academic fields.

Director of Students’ Welfare Sarvpreet Singh Ghuman attributed their success to their hard work and untiring efforts. He also urged other students to participate in sports for better health and team spirit.
