Fact Check: Has Hazira Port in Gujarat been attacked? PIB debunks viral video claim, says…
A widely circulated video on the social media platform X, allegedly showing an attack on Hazira Port in Gujarat, has been debunked by the Press Information Bureau (PIB). PIB confirmed that the footage is actually from July 7, 2021.
The official PIB Fact Check handle clarified that the viral video claiming an attack on Hazira Port in Gujarat is misleading. According to the statement, the footage actually shows an oil tanker explosion from July 7, 2021, and is unrelated to the current situation. Citizens were urged not to share the video.
In a post shared on X(previously Twitter), the official PIB Fact Check handle wrote, “This video is widely circulating on social media with a claim that Hazira Port in Gujarat has been attacked. This is an unrelated video confirmed to depict an oil tanker explosion. The video is dated July 7, 2021. Do not share this video.”
The video, which gained traction on social media after being reposted by several unauthenticated accounts, falsely claimed that Hazira Port in Gujarat had been attacked. However, the misleading content was promptly flagged by the Press Information Bureau’s (PIB) fact-checking team, which is actively monitoring online narratives related to the conflict.
As ‘Operation Sindoor’ continues to unfold further with Indian Air Force strikes against Pakistan’s air defence system, the PIB and the Indian Armed Forces continue to stress the importance of verified information. The public is being encouraged to report suspicious content to the relevant authorities.
