National Lok Adalat in Sirsa on May 10
A National Lok Adalat will be organised on May 10 in the district court of Sirsa. People can approach the special court either themselves or through their lawyers to get their cases settled.
District Legal Services Authority Secretary and Chief Judicial Magistrate Pravesh Singla said the event was being organised by the National Legal Services Authority and Haryana State Legal Services Authority. He added that decisions made in the Lok Adalat are as important as decisions made in regular courts. Also, no appeal can be made against a decision made in the Lok Adalat.
Jail Lok Adalat
On the instructions from the Haryana State Legal Services Authority, a Jail Lok Adalat was recently held in Sirsa jail. Pravesh Singla said of the five case files were presented at the adalat, four were settled and four prisoners were released.
He also mentioned that Jail Lok Adalats are held twice a month, on the first and third Wednesday. Their main goal is to help prisoners, who are in the jail for a long time due to minor cases. After the court session, Singla visited the jail, spoke with the prisoners, listened to their problems and apprised them of free legal aid available to them.
