In brief: Pak intruder shot by BSF in Ferozepur

BSF personnel belonging to 158 battalion gunned down a Pakistani intruder near Lakha Singh Wala border outpost in Ferozepur. According to information, the incident took place during the wee hours of Thursday when the intruder tried to enter the Indian territory near gate number 207/1 of the cobra fencing. The BSF personnel warned the intruder, but he continued to move towards the outpost, following which he was shot down. The intruder was yet to be identified. A packet of pest control granules was recovered from his pocket, said a BSF official. OC

JuD chief Hafiz Saeed challenges conviction

Lahore: Mumbai terror attack mastermind and banned Jamaat-ud-Dawah (JuD) chief Hafiz Saeed has filed a petition in a Pakistani court, challenging his conviction for multiple years in terror financing cases, a court official said on Thursday. Saeed, a UN-designated terrorist, is the founder of Lashkar-e-Taiba, which is responsible for carrying out the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks that killed 166 people. PTI

Govt tells X to block 8,000 accounts 

New Delhi: Social media platform X said on Thursday that it has started blocking 8,000 accounts in India following executive orders from the government. In a post on its Global Government Affairs handle, the platform said it received executive orders from the Indian government requiring it to block over 8,000 accounts in the country “subject to potential penalties, including significant fines and imprisonment of the company’s local employees". “The orders include demand to block access in India to accounts belonging to international news organisations and prominent X users. In most cases, the government has not specified which posts from an account have violated India’s local laws," X said. PTI
