Dharamshala IPL Match Scrapped, Fan's 'Bharat Mata Ki Jai' Breaks The Internet
The Punjab Kings vs Delhi Capitals Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 match on Thursday (May 8), scheduled to be held in Dharamshala, was canceled last night due to heightened tensions between India and Pakistan.
Following cross-border firing in several Indian cities, including Jammu, security concerns led to the evacuation of the stadium.
Arun Dhumal urges fans to vacate
IPL Chairman Arun Dhumal personally addressed spectators at the Dharamshala stadium, urging them to vacate the premises calmly. A video of Dhumal making the announcement has since gone viral on social media. All players and fans were safely escorted out of the stadium following a complete blackout.
Fan's brave response gains attention
Amid the evacuation, a video of a fan speaking to ANI has struck a chord online. In the video, the fan says, "What are we afraid of? We are in our own country. If anyone should be afraid, it is Pakistan. Bharat Mata ki Jai." The statement has been widely circulated, receiving praise for its patriotic spirit.
Special train planned for players' safety
In response to the volatile situation, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is reportedly arranging a special train to safely transport players and officials between venues. The board is expected to take a call today on whether the remainder of IPL 2025 will proceed as planned.
