Amid the ongoing tension between India and Pakistan, orders have been issued to keep schools, colleges and other educational institutions closed in many states of the country. This includes many districts of Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab, Haryana and Rajasthan.
School Holiday 2025: Important news for school students. In view of the ever-increasing tension between India and Pakistan, a holiday has been declared in the border districts of Punjab, Rajasthan, Himachal Pradesh and Kashmir.
Today, on May 9, all government and private educational institutions will remain closed in Una district of Himachal Pradesh. Other institutions in Panchkula will remain closed on May 9 and May 10. Schools (both government and private) have been announced to be closed till May 10 in the Union Territory of Chandigarh.
Schools closed in these states till May 11
The Punjab government has issued an order to close all schools in 6 border districts Ferozepur, Pathankot, Fazilka, Amritsar, Gurdaspur and Tarn Taran till May 11. Punjab University has postponed the examinations of May 9, 10 and 12. The revised dates are yet to be announced.
All government and private schools in Sriganganagar, Bikaner, Jodhpur, Jaisalmer and Barmer in Rajasthan have been closed. Along with schools, holidays have also been declared in Anganwadi centers and madrasas.
All government and private schools in Baramulla, Kupwara, Sub-Division (Gurez) of Kashmir and schools around Srinagar have been closed from 9 to 11 May 2025.
Know when and for how long summer vacation in which state
Madhya Pradesh: Summer vacation has been declared in Madhya Pradesh for students from 1 May to 15 June and for teachers from 1 May to 31 May. These holidays are applicable to all private and government schools in the state simultaneously.
Chhattisgarh: There will be summer vacation in Chhattisgarh till 15 June 2025. This decision will be applicable only to students. Teachers will be involved in their regular work.
Delhi: Summer vacation in Delhi schools will start from 11 May and end on 30 June. However, teachers will have to report to schools from 28 June.
Jharkhand: According to the annual calendar released by the Jharkhand Education Department, this time summer vacation will start from 22 May and will last till 4 June 2025.
Tamil Nadu: In Tamil Nadu, summer vacation for class 1 to 5 will run from 22 April to 1 June, class 6 to 9 from 25 April to 1 June and class 10 students will run from 15 April to 1 June.
Himachal Pradesh: This time summer vacation in Himachal Pradesh schools will be for 32 days from 12 July to 12 August. Earlier it used to be for 38 days from 22 June to 29 July. 4 holidays of April have been canceled, instead summer break will be available from 1 to 8 June. Schools in Nalagarh, Fatehpur, Nagarota Surian, Indora, Paonta Sahib, Kala Amb and Una districts will have 30 days summer holiday from 1 to 30 June.
