'No Work Day' Declared In Punjab, Haryana And Chandigarh Courts Amid Rising Ind-Pak Tensions
Amid escalating tensions along the India-Pakistan border, the Bar Council of Punjab and Haryana has declared a 'No Work Day' across all courts in Punjab, Haryana, and the Union Territory of Chandigarh.
In an official statement, Rakesh Gupta, Chairman of Bar Council of Punjab and Haryana, cited serious safety concerns as the reason behind the decision. Rakesh Gupta said, "In view of the serious escalation of the ongoing war-like situation and considering the safety concerns of litigants/advocates/staff/general public & their families etc., the Bar Council has decided to observe today, i.e., May 9, 2025, as a No Work Day across all courts in Punjab, Haryana, and Chandigarh."
Further, he appealed to all Bar Associations within the jurisdiction to adhere to the resolution and prioritise the safety and well-being of all concerned. "Our prayers are with the Indian Forces for their courage and strength. Jai Hind!," he added.
