Aerial threat alert sounded in Ambala

A potential aerial threat alert was issued by the Air Force Station in Ambala on Friday morning. Following the alert, the district administration advised the residents to remain indoors and away from balconies.

Deputy Commissioner Ajay Singh Tomer said an air warning threat alert had been received from the Air Force Station. Sirens were sounded and all residents had been advised to remain indoors and away from balconies and venture out in case of urgency only for next two hours, he said.

This was the first such alert sounded in Ambala during the ongoing conflict. Air alarm sirens were again sounded, signalling the alert had ended.

Last night, the Deputy Commissioner had advised the residents to immediately respond to the situation. “Keeping in view the ongoing emergency situation, all the residents are requested to immediately respond to the sound of the siren and switch off all the lights and also are advised not to venture outside or on the rooftops,” he had stated.

All educational institutions, including schools, colleges, ITIs, polytechnic institutes, will also remain closed in the district till May 10.

Meanwhile, a press conference to be addressed by the Deputy Commissioner has been postponed.
