'Modi would launch a drone at Imran Khan': Fearing India, Pakistan former PM's aide moves court seeking his release

As Pakistan reels under Indian attack, a political game is ensuing in the streets of Islamabad after Pakistan's former Prime Minister Imran Khan approached the High Court seeking his release. His claim: India would launch a drone at Adiala Jail, where he is put up, as Prime Minister Narendra Modi considers him his greatest adversary.

This comes amid unconfirmed reports that Imran Khan's party workers are spilling into the streets seeking his release. Khan is the current administration's biggest adversary and has frequently claimed he was removed from the Prime Minister's post on the behest of the Army.

The petition was filed by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur before the Islamabad High Court, according to Samaa TV.

"India has launched drone attacks on several cities. In such circumstances, the life of the PTI founder is in grave danger while in jail,"  the petition claims. In the petition, Gandapur baselessly claimed, "Imran Khan exposed Modi on global platforms, causing him international embarrassment."

The petition also lashes out at Pakistan's ruling government led by PML-N leader Shehbaz Sharif, stating that "prolonged imprisonment in politically motivated cases is a violation of Imran Khan’s fundamental rights." He added that Khan's continued detention poses risks to his deteriorating health.

Khan and his aides have been constantly attacking the government and the Army after tensions with India, with his sister Aleema Khan questioning Sharif’s claim that Pakistan shot down five Indian jets during India’s Operation Sindoor. "They are claiming that they have shot down these aircraft. It's Nawaz Sharif's government that's making this claim, right? But here, drones are coming in one after another. They are entering from India and reaching all the way to Rawalpindi. How did they reach Pindi?", she asked.

Two days earlier, a close aide to Khan blamed Pakistan Army Chief Gen Munir for his role in dragging Pakistan into a confrontation with India. The PTI had also abstained from a government briefing on the ongoing tensions between Pakistan and India.
