Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge to Debut with Corning Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2 for Superior Durability
New Delhi – Samsung Electronics has partnered with Corning Incorporated to introduce the new Corning Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2 on its upcoming flagship smartphone, the Galaxy S25 Edge, which the company says will be the slimmest Galaxy S series device to date.
The collaboration marks a significant leap in smartphone durability and design. The newly developed Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2 combines advanced materials with a sleek, lightweight profile an essential feature for Samsung’s refined design ambitions.
“Galaxy S25 Edge will set a new standard for craftsmanship and performance,” said Kwangjin Bae, Executive Vice President and Head of the Mechanical R&D Team, Mobile eXperience Business at Samsung Electronics. “To support this breakthrough design, it was essential to develop a display material that was both exceptionally thin and reliably strong – a challenge that brought Corning and Samsung together.”
The new glass features microscopic crystals embedded in a glass matrix, enhancing crack resistance and durability without compromising optical clarity. Corning’s signature ion exchange process further strengthens the material, improving resistance to damage and helping the glass maintain its structural integrity over time.
Andrew Beck, Vice President and General Manager of Corning Gorilla Glass, highlighted the significance of the development. “With Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2, we’ve achieved a remarkable combination of thinness and strength, giving consumers the best of both worlds – exceptional durability in a modern, sleek and premium design.”
The Galaxy S25 Edge, which is expected to be officially unveiled in the coming months, represents a joint push by Samsung and Corning to deliver cutting-edge innovation and long-lasting performance in mobile devices.
