Pranav Mohanlal's horror-thriller from 'Bramayugam' director gets title

We recently reported that Pranav Mohanlal is teaming up with Bramayugam director Rahu Sadasivan for a horror thriller. The team revealed the title as Dies Irae. The film sees Pranav back in Mohanlal after Vineeth Sreenivasan's Varshangalku Shesham last year. The makers recently announced completion of filming.

Dies Irae translates to Days of Wrath in Latin and is expected to be a chilling cinematic experience exploring a dark, eerie theme. The title reveal post was accompanied by an eerie, gothic soundtrack that hints at an unusual cinematic experience.

The film, which reunites writer-director Rahul Sadasivan with cinematographer Shehnad Jalal (Bhoothakalam, Bramayugam), is backed by Night Shift Studios and Y Not Studios, has music by Christo Xavier, art direction by Jothish Shankar and editing by Shafique Mohammed Ali.

What is Dies Irae?

Dies Irae is a Latin poem from the medieval period that features accentual stress and rhymed verses. It depicts the Last Judgment, where a trumpet calls souls to stand before God’s throne, with the saved receiving salvation and the unsaved being cast into everlasting fire. It is most famously associated with the Roman Rite Catholic Requiem Mass, also known as the Mass for the Dead or Funeral Mass. It's a poem sung for the dead.
