Blackout in Punjab: Ferozepur, Pathankot, Amritsar and Hoshiarpur placed under complete blackout; sound of loud explosions heard in Pathankot, Ferozepur
Several parts of Punjab including Ferozepur, Pathankot, Amritsar, and Hoshiarpur were placed under a blackout as tensions escalated between India and Pakistan. People in Pathankot and Ferozepur reported hearing loud explosions, though officials did not confirm the cause. Air raid sirens were reportedly activated in multiple districts.
This comes after India successfully blocked Pakistan’s fresh wave of drone and missile attacks late Thursday night. These attacks targeted military zones in Jammu and Pathankot, following similar failed attempts across 15 locations in northern and western India.
The situation along the border grew even more intense as Pakistani forces began heavy shelling along the Line of Control (LoC) and the International Border in Jammu & Kashmir, Punjab, and Rajasthan.
These actions followed India’s powerful response earlier that day, where Indian forces struck multiple Pakistani air defence positions — one of them in Lahore was reportedly destroyed.
Just a day earlier, under a mission named ‘Operation Sindoor’, India launched targeted missile strikes on nine terror camps located in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), hitting back decisively after growing cross-border hostilities.
