Several drones have been sighted in Jammu Kashmir, Samba and Pathankot (Punjab) areas on Friday evening. Indian Army sources said that they are being engaged as multiple explosions were heard in the region for the second day in a row.
Once again the border areas were in blackout following the sirens in the region.
"Intermittent sounds of blasts, probably heavy artillery, can now be heard from where I am," said Jammu and Kashmir CM Omar Abdullah in a post on X.
Abdullah also appealed to the residents in the Jammu region to stay off the streets.
Blasts were reported along the Line of Control as part of the continued cross-border shelling by Pakistan. Reportedly, in Srinagar, mosque loudspeakers urged residents to turn off their lights as a safety precaution.
Around 300 to 400 Pakistan-deployed drones were intercepted by the Indian armed forces on May 8 night. In a press conference, Army's Colonel Sofiya Qureshi said that Pakistani army fired heavy-calibre weapons along the Line of Control aiming for the military infrastructure.
The India-Pakistan tensions escalated after Pahalagam terror attack in Jammu Kashmir that killed 26 people, mostly tourists.
