All community members join Muslims in Friday prayers for peace

Fridays have been more important in this Muslim-dominated region of Malerkotla district, when it refers to Indo-Pak relations, may it be a war or a cricket match. But contrary to the common belief, Muslims of the region, along with their Hindu and Sikh brethren, offered special prayers today for peace and prosperity in India, besides immediate end to the ongoing tension between India and Pakistan.

Bakhtar Ali Maulwi, a Muslim religious leader, appreciated that the clergy at various Islamic institutes of the region had led community prayers in various parts of India, seeking peace and prosperity.

“As Friday is auspicious for us, we prayed before the Almighty to give us strength to live peacefully with our Hindu and Sikh brethren, who also made similar prayers at temples and gurdwaras,” said Ali.

Chairman, Shree Ram Mandir, Deepak Sharma said leaders of various communities living in the region had exhibited an exceptional example of communal harmony during tough times, including the ongoing tension between India and Pakistan.

Sharma claimed that the communal harmony during war against Pakistan was the outcome of gestures shown by members of all non-Muslim communities towards Muslims during their religious functions in the past decades.

Niku Singh, an activist of the Malwa Hindu Sikh Welfare Society, said that members of various Sikh outfits of the region had been praying for return of normalcy in the region with special focus on safety and prosperity of all human beings.
