JCCI election deferred

JAMMU, May 9: The proposed election of the Jammu Chamber of Commerce and Industry (JCCI) have been deferred in view of the prevailing situation.
An official spokesman said that an emergency meeting of the executive committee of Chamber of Commerce & Industry Jammu was called by Shiv Partap Gupta, Election President to apprise members about verbal directions issued by Divisional Commissioner with regard to conduct of May 11 election.
It was further told that Divisional Commissioner’s office has written to the President that it is not advisable to hold election in view of the prevailing situation on the border. Keeping in view yesterday night’s drone and missiles attack on Jammu by Pakistan and directions from Divisional Commissioner, the Executive Committee decided with majority opinion to defer the holding of election till normalcy is restored.
The Election President announced that present team of office bearers shall continue to function till elections are again decided by the executive committee.
Prominent among others in the meeting include Manmohan Singh, Kulbhushan Gupta, Vijay Gupta, Romesh Chander Gupta, former president Prithvi Raj Gupta, Former secretary general Rajendra Motial, former secretary general, Ravinder Sawhney, Jagdish Langer, Ravinder Goel, Murari Lal, Surinder Mahajan, Dr. Gautam Goel, Ashok Gupta, Kailash Langer, Virender Puri, Kamal Kishor Gupta, Deepak Gupta and others.
