India-Pakistan Tension Live: India Strikes 4 Pakistani Airbases After Islamabad Targets 26 Locations — Report

India-Pakistan Tension Live: A fresh wave of drone attacks was launched by Pakistan, for the second night on Friday, targeting 26 locations in Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab, Rajasthan, and Gujarat. The defence ministry assured that the situation was under "close and constant watch", and that there was no cause for panic.

The defence ministry also stated that Pakistan's attempt to strike vital installations, including air bases and airports, were thwarted successfully. However, a family was injured during an attack in Punjab's Ferozpur, which was carried out after darkness fell. At the time, all the states that border Pakistan were under night-long blackout.

The defence ministry later confirmed that an armed drone targeted a civilian area in Ferozpur, resulting in injuries to members of a local family.  The locations long the International Border and Line of Control with Pakistan which were attacked last night include Baramulla, Srinagar, Awantipora, Nagrota, Jammu, Ferozpur, Pathankot, Fazilka, Lalgarh Jatta, Jaisalmer, Barmer, Bhuj, Kuarbet, and Lakhi Nala.

These fresh strikes were reported just a day after India successfully foiled an attempt by the Pakistani military to target Indian military sites with drones and missiles.

In Baramulla district, the night sky lit up as Indian forces shot down several Pakistani drones. Explosions rang out and warning sirens blared across parts of the Jammu region and south Kashmir, causing widespread power outages.

In Srinagar, loudspeakers from mosques urged residents to turn off their lights as a safety measure. Blasts were also heard near Srinagar airport and countermeasures were deployed to neutralise the suspected drone threat.

Officials also confirmed that drones had been spotted and engaged in areas like Udhampur and Nagrota in Jammu, as well as Kupwara in north Kashmir. Meanwhile, intense shelling was reported along the IB in Jammu’s Suchetgarh and Ramgarh sectors, as well as in Samba district.

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Friday night chaired a meeting to review relief efforts and preparedness in border districts following intense cross-border shelling.

Tensions between India and Pakistan escalated sharply after the Indian armed forces carried out precision strikes on terror launchpads in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) on Wednesday.

The operation was a direct response to the April 22 terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, which killed 26 people, mostly tourists.
