ACB chargesheets 2 in graft case

The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), Hisar, on Friday filed a chargesheet in a Bhiwani court against two accused — brothers Pawan Kumar and Praveen Kumar, a Data Entry Operator at the Treasury Office, Bhiwani.

A complaint in this regard was submitted to the Hisar ACB by a supervisor working in the Women and Child Development Department, Bhiwani.

According to the complainant, Pooja, her salary for January and February had not been processed due to the absence of an Employee NPS Account, as she only had a Citizen NPS Account.

The department had written to the Treasury Office to get the account converted.

When the complainant approached Praveen at the Treasury Office, he directed her to meet Pawan of Vashisht Solution Shop, located near the Government Industrial Training Institute (ITI), Bhiwani.

Upon meeting Pawan, she was told that a bribe of Rs 2,500 would be required to get the account converted — allegedly on behalf of Praveen.

Acting on the complaint, the ACB Hisar team caught Pawan red-handed while accepting the Rs 2,500 bribe from the complainant. Praveen was also arrested.

An FIR was registered in this regard on March 12 under the under sections 7 and 7A of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, and Section 215 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, at the Hisar ACB.
