Overnight artillery shelling by Pakistan along the Line of Control inflicted damages to several infrastructure in Jammu and Kashmir.
Parts of houses and properties were severely damaged in Uri and Jammu.
A shell from a Pakistani attack also damaged a house near the Aap Shambhu Temple in Jammu. The area has been sealed and police along with crime and forensic teams are investigating the site, reported IANS.
Bharatiya Janata Party MLA from Jammu West, Arvind Gupta recalled that around 5:40 am he felt a sudden impact at his house, which was 50 metres from the affected area.
"I was a little scared. Within 15-20 minutes, I came to know about here. We came here...Pakistan has no guts to have a direct fight with our Army. So, it has started attacking the residential areas," Gupta told ANI.
The legislator further said that the only reason behind targeting civilian areas was to cause panic. He appealed to the people not to gather wherever anything like this happens so that nothing untoward happens.
Another local said his family was sleeping at home when the attack took place. " We are safe. Everyone is fine. This happened around 5-5:15 am today...This has started happening in the city now because they (Pakistan) have targetted Jammu...," the Jammu resident said.
