Jalandhar on high alert: A day after drone attacks, city sees missile strikes

A day after multiple drone attacks, Jalandhar saw several missile attacks on the night of May 9-10, with explosions heard intermittently, keeping residents awake and panicky.

Residents of Kangniwal village near Adampur were woken up around 1:30 am by a loud sound.

The villagers said that when they went outside, they saw missile debris. A car parked outside a house was damaged, and a water tank in another house was cracked.

Soon after the incident, the district administration imposed a blackout at 1:30 am, which continued until 6 am.

Missile debris was also found at Mand Maur village near Kartarpur this morning. The debris was also found at Rampur Khalian village near Phagwara, where an 8-foot-deep crater was created in the fields.

After 7:15 am on Saturday morning, at least four more explosions were heard.

The administration sounded sirens. Deputy Commissioner Jalandhar Dr Himanshu Aggarwal put out a message, “Jalandhar was on red alert all night. Many objects were seen and were neutralized by the armed forces. Stay calm and stay inside as much as you can."
