While India Is Obsessed With SUVs, This Hatchback Is Sold Out Before Launch
We don't normally hear the fact that a car is sold out before the launch but that's what has happened with the new Golf GTI. Pre-booking's were open for the new generation Golf GTI in India from 5th May and two days ago, Volkswagen announced that bookings are closed. Hence, all of the Golf GTI units for the first batch are spoken for.
As mentioned earlier also by us, Volkswagen is bringing a limited number of cars in the first batch to around 150 units and all have been spoken for which means it remains to be seen when the new batch of cars is coming. It seems while India is obsessed with SUVs, a hatchback being sold out shows that there is clear demand for performance cars beyond the usual SUV body style.

The Golf GTI follows the launch of the Tiguan R-Line which also comes to India in CBU form and was launched recently. The new Golf GTI will come in four colours while it will have features like 3-zone climate control, paddle shifters, panoramic sunroof, ADAS and a 12.9-inch screen. The car will also have GTI spec highlights like plaid seats, 18-inch alloy wheels, twin chrome exhausts, 7 airbags and more.
The new GTI comes with a 2.0 TFSI engine with 265PS along with a 7-speed dual clutch as standard. The Golf GTI has a length of 4.29 m and is a large premium hatchback while being a well known car within the Volkswagen portfolio.
