Zartaj Gul Wazir

The name of the Pakistan MP is Zartaj Gul Wazir, and she is associated with Imran Khan’s party, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), and is a member of the National Assembly from this party. As per reports, Zartaj was born on 19 October 1984 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Bannu. She belongs to the Wazir tribe, and her father, Sher Khan, worked as a Chief Engineer in WAPDA. Her sister, Shabnam Gul, was appointed as Director in the National Counter Terrorism Authority (NACTA) in 2019.

Zartaj completed her graduation from Queen Mary College, Lahore. After that, she went to the National College of Arts (NCA), Lahore, to complete her postgraduate degree in textile design.

How Did She Enter Politics?

Zartaj Gul Wazir’s political career began in 2005 with the PTI’s student wing. She unsuccessfully ran for election in Dera Ghazi Khan-II in 2013, but won a National Assembly seat in Dera Ghazi Khan-III in 2018. Serving as Minister of State for Climate Change from 2018 to 2022 under Imran Khan, she was re-elected to the National Assembly from Dera Ghazi Khan-II in 2024. Prior to her political involvement, Wazir volunteered at the Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital.

Zartaj Gul Wazir and Humayun Raza Khan Akhwand, both PTI members, married in 2010 after meeting in 2005, while working for the party. Their relationship developed from a friendship formed during their shared political activities. The couple resides in Dera Ghazi Khan and blesses with a daughter named Shalalai. Shalalai was born in 2014.
