FACT CHECK: Truth about Delhi airport, Bathinda Airfield being attacked by Pakistan revealed

Pakistan's propaganda machinery seems to be working full-time, circulating false claims and spreading misinformation on social media. However, PIB Fact Check team is working tirelessly to debunk falsehoods and rumours spread in a bid to evoke fear in the minds of Indians.

The latest such claim by pro-Pakistan social media is the alleged missile attack on Delhi Airport. However, PIB clarified that an old video is being falsely shared a footage of a missile strike on Delhi Airport. The fact check team said the video is actually of a gas station explosion in Yemen's Aden from August 2024 and has no connection to the ongoing conflict between India and Pakistan.

Another social media post falsely claimed that the Bathinda Airfield was destroyed in Pakistani attack. However, PIB Fact Check clarified that the Bathinda Airfield is fully operational and there was no damage to any infrastructure.

PIB Fact Check has been fighting Pakistan-linked fake news spread on social media with the hashtag India Fights Propaganda. Earlier, there were false claims about explosions at Jaipur Airport. These too have been debunked. Other posts claimed that the Amritsar military base, the Srinagar airbase and the Indian Brigade Headquarters in Jammu and Kashmir were attacked. These too turned out to be false.

PIB has also warned Indians about fake Facebook accounts of National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, clarifying that the NSA does not have an official Facebook account.

Another fake Whatsapp post claimed that ATMs were closed for two to three days. However, this has also been debunked by the Fact Check team of the PIB.

The Centre has warned citizens against sharing unverified information on social media and rely only on official sources from the Indian government for accurate information.
