India and Pakistan agrees to full and immediate ceasefire: US President Donald Trump

India and Pakistan have agreed to a "full and immediate ceasefire", US President Donald Trump claimed on Saturday evening. The White House mediated between the two rivals as discussions stretched late into the night, the US President announced on X.

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio further claimed that both countries have agreed to hold discussions at a neutral venue. US Vice President JD Vance and himself has been holding talks with both sides for the last two days, Rubio said before appreciating Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his counterpart Shehbaz Sharif for "choosing the path of peace."

"Over the past 48 hours, @VP Vance and I have engaged with senior Indian and Pakistani officials, including Prime Ministers Narendra Modi and Shehbaz Sharif, External Affairs Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, Chief of Army Staff Asim Munir, and National Security Advisors Ajit Doval and Asim Malik. I am pleased to announce the Governments of India and Pakistan have agreed to an immediate ceasefire and to start talks on a broad set of issues at a neutral site. We commend Prime Ministers Modi and Sharif on their wisdom, prudence, and statesmanship in choosing the path of peace," his post on X said.

The armed forces of Pakistan and India were engaged in an exchange of fire after India targeted nine terrorist hideouts and launchpads across Pakistan and PoK. Islamabad retaliated to the targeted Indian offensive codenamed 'Operation Sindoor' by intensified firing and shelling across LoC. Numerous Pakistani drones were brought down by India's air defence systems across border states as Pakistan escalated the situation.
