Thane: A 50-year-old man allegedly killed his wife by slitting her throat with a sharp weapon during a domestic dispute in Ulhasnagar on Friday night. According to police, the accused fled the scene after the incident, and a manhunt has been launched to apprehend him.
The deceased has been identified as Surekha Anand Suryawanshi (48), who lived with her husband, Anand Suryawanshi (50), and their six children, including two daughters, in the Shantinagar area of Ulhasnagar. The accused worked as a laborer in the city.
The incident occurred around 10:30 PM on Friday when the accused allegedly used a sharp weapon to attack Surekha, slitting her throat six times. Police reports indicate that Anand had returned home from work and got into a heated argument with Surekha over ongoing family disputes. The confrontation escalated, and in a fit of rage, he retrieved a weapon from the kitchen and attacked her.
Following the assault, he fled the house. Local residents rushed to the scene, found Surekha lying in a pool of blood, and immediately alerted the police. She was transported to a nearby hospital, where she was declared dead on arrival.
Police officers responded promptly, secured the crime scene, and called in the forensic team to gather evidence. An FIR has been registered against Anand Suryawanshi on charges of murder.
