Pakistan violated ceasefire? Blasts heard in Srinagar; blackouts in several border cities

Loud explosions were heard in Srinagar and flashes were seen in the night sky over Jammu on Saturday night, hours after India and Pakistan agreed to a ceasefire.

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah took to X, saying he heard sounds of explosions across Srinagar.

"What the hell just happened to the ceasefire? Explosions heard across Srinagar," Abdullah said. In another post, the chief minister shared a video in which red streaks were seen as India's air defence intercepts Pakistani drones amid blackout.

“This is no ceasefire. The air defence units in the middle of Srinagar just opened up,” he wrote.

According to ANI, a complete blackout has been enforced across Jammu and Kashmir and in several border cities including Barmer and Jaislamer in Rajasthan, and Ferozepur, Moga and Pathankot in Punjab.

India and Pakistan agreed to a ceasefire on Saturday evening after days of military escalation triggered by a deadly terror attack in Pahalgam in which 26 people, mostly tourists, were killed.

New Delhi alleged involvement of Pakistan-based terror groups in the attack and took a slew of diplomatic punitive measures against Islamabad before launching a military operation against the terrorist infrastructure in the neighbouring country in the wee hours of Wednesday.

India claimed to have neutralised scores of terrorists in the operation, named as Operation Sindoora, even as it brought the nuclear-armed neighbours to the brink of a war.
