BSF, Punjab Police seize arms and explosives on Amritsar border

Despite the armed forces of India and Pakistan facing each other at the international border for several days following India’s destruction of terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, the arms syndicate in the neighbouring nation continued its nefarious activities of pushing in arms and ammunition during this heightened situation.

The Border Security Force (BSF), in a joint operation with the Punjab Police, claimed to have foiled a terror plot today by seizing a huge quantity of explosives, arms, and ammunition from the Amritsar border. The BSF authorities said the intelligence-based operation involved BSF troops and Punjab Police launching an extensive search operation near Sheikh Bhatti village, located near the Indo-Pak border in Amritsar.

During the operation, a huge packet containing 2.7 kg of suspected RDX explosives, two detonators and an IED circuit, two hand grenades with accessories, two pistols with four magazines, and 30 live rounds were seized. The consignment was wrapped in yellow plastic material with a metal wire loop, indicating it was likely dropped by a drone. The seized items were handed over to the police for further necessary action.

Maninder Singh, SSP Amritsar Rural, said a case was being registered and further investigations were in progress. Since May 6, when the Indian Air Force destroyed nine terror camps in Pakistan and POK in precise targeted attacks to avenge the killing of 26 innocent civilians in Pulwama by Pakistan and ISI-supported terrorists, the armed forces have been targeting each other’s military establishments through drones and missiles. The Indian Air Defence system has neutralised the majority of attacks from the other side of the border.
