India-Pakistan Conflict: Normalcy Prevails In Jammu & Kashmir After Ceasefire Calls; No Shelling Or Drone Attacks Reported Last Night
Jammu: The situation across key regions of Jammu and Kashmir, including Poonch, Akhnoor, Rajouri and Jammu city, remains calm and under control following the recent ceasefire agreement between India and Pakistan. No incidents of firing, shelling, or drone activity were reported overnight from either the Line of Control (LoC) or the International Border (IB), suggesting stability has returned to these sensitive areas.
Visuals of several areas in J&K showing signs of normalcy have surfaced on the internet. Just hours after announcing a ceasefire, Pakistan had reportedly made attempts of violation with drone attacks and shelling in several areas. However, later in the night, no firing or shelling was carried out by both nations.
Amritsar Remains On High Alert
Despite the relative calm along the borders, high alert continues in certain regions. The Amritsar district administration issued an early morning advisory on May 11, urging residents to remain indoors. At 5:24 am, the Deputy Commissioner of Amritsar confirmed that while power supply had been restored, the district remains under red alert. Sirens were activated to signal the ongoing alert status, with officials urging people to stay away from windows and wait for official instructions before stepping outside. The message emphasized calm and strict adherence to safety protocols.
Haryana CM Directs Emergency Preparedness Amid India-Pakistan Tensions
Meanwhile, in Haryana, Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini chaired a high-level emergency preparedness meeting to reinforce public safety and emergency response measures. Addressing deputy commissioners, police commissioners, and senior administrative officials via video conference, Saini stressed the need for proactive coordination and swift, efficient responses to any crisis. He also called on officials to maintain public confidence and prevent panic through transparent communication.
Security Remains Tightened, Drone Attacks Foiled
On the defence front, India has remained on high vigilance. The Indian military reportedly intercepted and destroyed several Pakistani drones attempting to breach Indian airspace, particularly near the Amritsar border last night. These drones were allegedly aimed at targeting both military installations and civilian airfields.
Indian air defence systems responded decisively, not only neutralising the drones but also destroying a suspected terrorist launchpad across the border. This assertive response, according to officials, has dealt a major blow to enemy efforts.
The Indian Army condemned the continued use of drones by Pakistan as "unacceptable" and reaffirmed its commitment to neutralizing any threats along the nation’s borders. Security agencies remain on high alert, and border residents have been advised to cooperate with authorities during this tense period.
