Mukesh Ambani and Nita Ambani, among the most influential power couples in India, are known not just for their business empire but also for their extravagant lifestyle — symbolised by their iconic residence, Antilia, one of the most expensive private homes in the world. The Ambani family live in the high-end, 27-storey mansion Antilia; it was built at an estimated cost of Rs 15,000 crore. It is considered to be one of the costliest private residences in the world. How much do you think the electricity bill might be for a 27-storey private mansion? The real number might just surprise you.
According to an Economic Times report published in November 2010, the house consumed approximately 6,37,240 units of electricity in a single month, resulting in a shocking electricity bill of Rs70,69,488, Mumbai’s highest residential electricity bill.
This opulent residence features an array of world-class amenities, including a striking helipad, a multi-level parking facility accommodating up to 168 luxury vehicles, an expansive spa, a temperature-controlled swimming pool, a majestic temple, high-speed elevators, a private theater, a cutting-edge gym, and fully air-conditioned living spaces. Many of these premium features are designed to operate around the clock, ensuring seamless, 24/7 comfort and convenience.
As per the electricity bill for September, Antilia consumed a staggering 6,37,240 units of power. To put this into perspective, an average household with all modern electronic appliances typically uses around 300 units per month. “Ambani was, in fact, given a discount of Rs 48,354 for prompt payment, so the Rs 70 lakh quoted earlier is minus this amount. Experts say it’s is roughly equivalent to the monthly power bill of 7,000 homes!,” reported Economics Times.
