Big Twist in Russia-Ukraine War! Vladimir Putin to hold talk with Zelenskyy in…, Russian President also plans to…

Moscow: In a major development, Russian President Vladimir Putin has agreed to hold direct talks with his Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Zelenskyy. He stated that these talks should begin “without delay” from May 15. It is important to note that Putin has not set any preconditions for this discussion, which is scheduled to take place in Istanbul, Turkey. This marks the first such proposal from the Russian President since the war began. Its been 36 month that the conflict between Russia and Ukraine has been going on, causing massive loss of life and property, especially in Ukraine.

Vladimir Putin, in a televised address on Saturday, said that Russia seeks serious negotiations to resolve the root causes of the conflict and to work towards lasting peace. His statement came just hours after UK Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer and French President Emmanuel Macron visited Ukraine and urged Russia to agree to an unconditional 30-day ceasefire. In response, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov stated that Moscow would consider the proposal but would not yield to pressure.

Hope for a Peace Agreement

The Russian president has expressed his confidence that during the talks there might be a possibility of the ceasefire agreement and peace between Russia and Ukraine through negotiations in the Turkish city of Istanbul. To discuss the framework of the meeting, President Putin will hold talks with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. So far, there has been no response from Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy regarding this proposal.

Recently, leaders from France, Germany, the UK, Poland, and several other European countries visited Ukraine and met with President Zelenskyy. These leaders warned Russia that if it does not stop the fighting for 30 days, further sanctions will be imposed. The UK Prime Minister said that even the President of the United States has called for Russia to end the war. In response, Russia stated that pressure tactics will not yield any results.

Putin has now shifted his stance and proposed talks after sending a strong message to European leaders urging them not to exert pressure. He has previously stated that he wants peace, but claims that Ukraine is receiving weapons and escalating the war. Putin asserts that in order to achieve lasting peace, it is essential to discuss the root causes of the war.
