Virat Kohli’s Top Test Records Revisited Amid Retirement Speculation
Indian cricket icon Virat Kohli has reportedly conveyed to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) his intention to retire from Test cricket. The former India captain has informed the team management of his decision to step away from the longest format of the game. This development comes shortly after Rohit Sharma announced his Test retirement while confirming his availability for ODIs. Notably, both Virat and Rohit announced retirement from the T20Is after India’s victorious T20 World Cup 2024 campaign.
While the 36-year-old hasn’t confirmed anything publicly yet, if he indeed goes ahead with the retirement, it will leave a massive hole in the Indian Test team. Over the years, Virat Kohli has been the backbone of Team India’s batting lineup across all formats. Apart from boasting of incredible numbers as a batter, Kohli also stands as India's most successful Test captain, having led the team to victory in 40 of the 68 matches he captained, with an impressive win percentage of 58.82%.
