Man dies during manual scavenging in Muktsar

Muktsar: Honey (32) from Tilak Nagar allegedly died after inhaling toxic gas during manual scavenging at a house near Naka Number 6 near Gurdwara Darbar Sahib on Sunday evening. Krishan Kumar and Balwinder Singh were also affected by the toxic gas and had to be hospitalised. The trio was reportedly engaged by the house owner to clean the drain. The workers did not have any safety gear. The police are probing the incident. TNS

Mann should apologise for remarks on farmers: Bajwa

Sriganganagar: The police on Sunday claimed to have seized 23 bags of poppy husk from an SUV and arrested two individuals in that connection. The vehicle was stopped for checking on the Bikaner-Sriganganagar-Abohar highway on Saturday night. There was no registration plate on the SUV. The occupants have been booked under the NDPS Act. They were identified as Budh Ram and Dinesh Kumar. oc
