Addressing participants at the meeting, Tayyab said, “Under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, the Punjab Government is closely monitoring the situation and is fully prepared to safeguard the lives and property of residents.”

He appealed to the public to remain calm and not fall prey to rumours or misinformation circulating on social media or other platforms. He directed the district administration to stay fully alert and ensure readiness in critical sectors such as health and medical services, food and civil supplies, electricity, water, roads, transport, education and the provision of essential commodities.

He emphasised on the importance of seamless coordination among civil, military, intelligence and other government agencies to ensure that no disruption was faced by the public.

Also present at the meeting were Deputy Commissioner Dr Preeti Yadav and SSP Varun Sharma, along with other senior officials who confirmed that the administration was fully equipped and committed to ensure the safety of residents.

The meeting focused on assessing the district’s preparedness for any war-like emergency, including air or drone attacks. Tayyab also stressed on the need for timely and accurate dissemination of government advisories to counter misinformation and prevent panic among residents. He called for stringent monitoring of rumour-mongering, fake news and activities of anti-social or anti-national elements. During the meeting, Deputy Commissioner Dr Preeti Yadav briefed the Administrative Secretary on the civil defence preparations, including mock drills, identification of high-rise buildings and safe shelters, and protocols for crash blackouts and siren alerts. SSP Varun Sharma apprised the Administrative Secretary about enhanced surveillance, checks on suspicious individuals, security audits of hotels, inns and night shelters, and arrangements for the safe movement of defence personnel.
