Janta Jal Sewa Samiti marks 39 years of service at Phagwara railway station
The Janta Jal Sewa Samiti (Regd), Phagwara, marked the 39th anniversary of its flagship Jal Sewa (drinking water service) with a solemn and dignified ceremony at the Phagwara railway station on Sunday. The event celebrated nearly four decades of unwavering public service and community welfare.
The occasion was graced by Padma Shri awardee Vijay Kumar Chopra and former Union Minister Som Parkash, who attended as chief guests. Both praised the Samiti’s enduring commitment to humanitarian service and its vital role in providing clean drinking water during peak summer months.
A major highlight of the event was the presentation of the Bhai Ghaniya Ji Award to noted social activist Satish Batra, recognising his exceptional dedication to humanitarian causes. The award, named after the revered Sikh figure known for offering water and care to wounded soldiers regardless of allegiance, holds profound symbolic value.
Several other distinguished guests were also present, including Mayor Ram Pal Uppal, former Mayor Arun Khosla, Pankaj Chawla, Senior Divisional Commercial Manager Parminder Singh Saini, Samiti President Vipin Khurana, Patron Malkeet Singh Raghbotra, Pradeep Ahuja, Jugnu Pandit, Raju Chail, and numerous other community leaders from the Phagwara region.
Speaking at the event, the guests emphasised the importance of sustained community service and praised the Samiti’s consistent efforts in serving the public, especially during the scorching summer months when access to clean drinking water becomes essential.
The Janta Sewa Samiti reaffirmed its commitment to continue and expand its public welfare activities, remaining steadfast in its mission to serve society with dedication and compassion.
