Karan Singh, CITU, others welcome ceasefire

JAMMU, May 11: More political and social organisations have welcomed the ceasefire decision between India and Pakistan.
Veteran Congress leader and former Sadar-e-Riyasat J&K, Karan Singh on Sunday welcomed the understanding between India and Pakistan and also urged the Government to ensure adequate compensation to the people affected by cross-border shelling in Jammu and Kashmir.
He said Prime Minister, Narendra Modi wisely gave the armed forces a free hand to conduct Operation Sindoor.
“I congratulate him and all ranks of the Armed forces for the efficient manner in which they conducted the whole operation including the lethal strikes on terrorists’ headquarters in mainland Pakistan as well as their attacks on Pakistan’s military bases, right up to Rawalpindi itself,” Singh said.
“My deep condolences to the families who lost their loved ones during the conflict over the last few days,” the Congress leader said.
He also welcomed President Donald Trump’s statement that “the two countries have agreed to a full and immediate ceasefire after US mediation”.
Centre of Indian Trade Union (CITU) while welcoming the ceasefire announcement between India and Pakistan, said after hearing news of stoppage of war people of both countries heaved a sigh of relief.
General secretary of the CITU, Tapan Sen said that CITU hopes that India and Pakistan should re-built the mutual trust and cooperation in containing and eradicating the menace of terrorism that is inhuman in nature.
President NMC, Subash Shastri while welcoming the ceasefire said India has made it clear that aiding and abetting terrorism will not be tolerated under Prime Minister leadership.
India reaffirmed its commitment to Global peace while delivering a strong message that cross border terrorism is unacceptable, Shastri said in a statement issued here, today.
BJP leader and Seh Prabhari Kashmir, Hira Lal Bhat has also welcomed the ceasefire between India and Pakistan. In a statement here, today Bhat said that India has made it unequivocally clear that there will be no compromise on terrorism as national security remains non negotiable.
He said the mature decision to agree to ceasefire , after asserting India’s strength and resolve, is a welcome step towards maintaining regional stability while upholding national dignity.
Vivek Bali, State president Jammu and Kashmir, Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party (SBSP), has welcomed the ceasefire decision agreed upon by India and Pakistan, hailing it as a significant step towards maintaining peace and stability in the region.
This development is expected to bring relief to the people who have been suffering due to the ongoing tensions, Bali said in a statement issued here, today.
