CM Rekha attends Rath Yatra, says hospitals prepared for any situation
Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta attended the 36th Rath Yatra at the Shree Mahaveer Digambar Jain Mandir in Pitampura on Sunday, a significant religious event in the city’s calendar.
Earlier in the week, on Friday, CM Gupta met with Health Minister Pankaj Kumar Singh and other senior health officials at the Delhi Secretariat. The meeting focused on reviewing the capital’s preparedness for any potential emergency situation. After the meeting, the Chief Minister assured the media that government hospitals were fully equipped to handle any unforeseen circumstances.
“Our government hospitals are well-prepared for any emergency situation,” Gupta stated. “We have already checked with all the Medical Directors (MDs) and are assessing any shortages in staff or medicines. We are committed to ensuring patients are treated under the Ayushman Bharat Scheme and the Ayushman Vyay Vandana Scheme. It is essential the administration, doctors, and hospitals remain ready.”
The Ayushman Vyay Vandana Yojana, which was announced earlier, offers health coverage of up to Rs 10 lakh to senior citizens aged 70 and above. This scheme, which implements a promise made by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, was given a boost earlier in the year when Delhi’s New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) Vice Chairman Kuljeet Singh Chahal confirmed its launch. “The Vay Vandan Yojana, which provides health benefits of up to Rs 10 lakh per beneficiary, is being rolled out today. The Delhi government has allocated a budget of Rs 2,140 crore for this initiative,” Chahal said.
On Thursday, Chief Minister Gupta also met with Union Minister Manohar Lal Khattar to discuss a wide range of critical infrastructure problems affecting the city. These included water supply, land allocation, traffic congestion, road development and other longstanding challenges. Khattar expressed his appreciation for the work being done by CM Gupta’s administration, noting that many of these issues had been unresolved for decades under previous governments.
“Delhi has been grappling with numerous unresolved problems for the last 15 to 20 years, but under CM Gupta, the entire cabinet has come together to address these issues,” Khattar remarked after the meeting. — ANI
