'Had There Been Ceasefire After 3 Days...': Congress Attacks Amit Shah After Ceasefire Announcement, Shares Old Clip Blaming Nehru

As India and Pakistan reached an understanding to cease firing and military actions against each other, Union Home Minister Amit Shah has come under attack from Congress leaders for his remarks blaming former Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru over PoK in 2023.

Congress spokesperson Supriya Sule on Monday shared an old clip of Amit Shah's Lok Sabha speech and questioned him over the recent ceasefire with Pakistan.

"'When our army was winning, a ceasefire was declared; otherwise, PoK would have been part of India today'. Amit Shah was sharing WhatsApp knowledge in December 2023. So tell me, what happened now?" she said while posting the clip.

Speaking in the Lok Sabha on December 6, 2023, Union Home Minister Amit Shah slammed former Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru for imposing a ceasefire in Kashmir and blamed him for Pakistan's continued control over PoK. "Two mistakes were made due to the decisions of (former PM) Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, which caused Kashmir to suffer for many years. The first was declaring a ceasefire—when our army was winning, the ceasefire was imposed. Had it been delayed by three days, PoK would have been a part of India today. The second mistake was taking our internal issue to the UN," Shah had said.

Several other Congress leaders also shared the same clip, questioning Shah on his stance regarding the ceasefire.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to address the nation at 8 PM today. This will be his first address since Operation Sindoor, a calculated military response to the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack that claimed the lives of 26 civilians, was launched on May 7.
