MP Congress members to train in social media management, AI use

The Congress in Madhya Pradesh, still smarting from its electoral defeat and plagued by turncoats, is now focusing on cadre management with a special training programme on media management, social media and Artificial Intelligence.

All MLAs, district presidents, district in charges, Vidhan Sabha in charges will have to undertake this training between June 9 and 15. The trainees will also have to pay a fees for this training.

At a recent meeting between the in charge of MP, Harish Chaudhary and the chief of the state Congress unit, Jeetu Patwari, it was decided that there was a need to make all party office bearers and members aware of the history and the ideology of the party as it has evolved. This will be done with help from AI.

Another important aspect of the training is how to distinguish between real and fake news and misinformation. Party members will be taught how to spot fake news so that untrue narratives created by the opposition can be countered.

On better use of mobiles, Congress members will be taught that they need to keep their WhatsApp read receipts on so that senders know that their messages have been read. Also, profile photos and biographies will have to be set to public so that people know that they are communicating with genuine Congress office bearers.

Sanjay Kamle, the organisational general secretary, said that the training had been under consideration for some time. Members were to bear the cost of the training on their own so that they feel a sense of obligation to take it seriously.

Subject matter experts will be conducting these trainings. The workshops will be either two or three days long, with more than one workshop if the need be.

Kamle said that optimal and correct use of social media for communication will be of immense help to propagate the new direction in which the party was headed.
