3 Brothers Among 5 Killed As Speeding SUV Collides With Car On Ahmedabad-Bhavnagar Highway

Gujarat News: Five persons, including three brothers, lost their lives in a tragic road accident near Dholera town in Gujarat’s Ahmedabad district on Monday, police said.

According to an official from Dholera police station, the accident occurred around 3 pm near Sandheda village when a speeding sports utility vehicle (SUV) collided head-on with a car on the highway connecting Ahmedabad to Bhavnagar, news agency PTI reported.

A total of six men were travelling in the SUV, while two women were in the car at the time of the collision. “Three brothers and their cousin, who were in the SUV and returning to Ahmedabad from Bhavnagar, died in the crash. The fifth deceased – a woman – was travelling towards Bhavnagar in the car,” the official said, as per PTI.

Following the incident, Dholera police rushed to the spot and began relief and rescue operations. The injured individuals were admitted to a hospital in Bhavnagar. An investigation into the accident is currently underway, the official added.

President Murmu Condoles Chhattisgarh Tragedy

Meanwhile, President Droupadi Murmu on Monday expressed grief over another road accident in Chhattisgarh that claimed 13 lives.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), President Murmu said in Hindi, “The news of the death of many people, including children and women, in a road accident in Raipur, Chhattisgarh, is extremely sad. I express my deepest condolences to the bereaved families and pray for the speedy recovery of those injured.”

The accident in Chhattisgarh occurred late Sunday night on the Raipur-Balodabazar road near Saragaon in Raipur district, when a trailer collided with a goods truck. All the 13 deceased were women and children, and 14 others sustained injuries.

Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai also expressed sorrow over the incident and announced an ex gratia of ₹5 lakh each to the families of the deceased and ₹50,000 each to the injured.
