Boost to connectivity: Edu Minister unveils Rs 4.5cr road plan in Jubbal
Education Minister Rohit Thakur announced on Sunday that the Malog-Panesari road will be constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 4.50 crore under the NABARD scheme. He made this announcement while addressing the public at the inauguration ceremony of the Late Rai Singh Ranta Memorial Volleyball Tournament, organised by the Youth Club Malog in the Jubbal-Nawar-Kotkhai Legislative Assembly constituency.
Highlighting the development initiatives in the region, the minister said significant progress has been made during the two and a half years of the current Congress-led state government, especially in the areas of road infrastructure and educational facilities.
Thakur emphasised the importance of road connectivity for the Nandpur panchayat, which holds a key position in apple horticulture across Himachal Pradesh. He stated, “Given the agricultural importance of this region, proper road connectivity is essential. Several roads have already been constructed or sanctioned, including the Harijan Basti Bajhanu Road, Sanoli Road, Badiyar Road, Rajpuri Roads and the newly proposed Anu Mandi to Anti Road, which will serve as an alternative route.”
Congratulating the youth club for organising the tournament, the minister underscored the role of sports in the holistic development of young people. “In a hilly state like Himachal Pradesh, where large playing fields are limited, sports like volleyball, kabaddi and kho-kho are both suitable and culturally significant,” he said. He also noted that the Jubbal region has produced several distinguished volleyball players who have represented the state and country at national and international levels.
Urging the youth to actively participate in sports and steer clear of drug addiction, Thakur reaffirmed the government’s commitment to promoting sports. He informed the gathering that a newly constructed sports hostel in Jubbal has been opened to the public, offering training in volleyball, kabaddi and badminton — providing national-level facilities to budding athletes.
