Manal-Kodga link road will benefit 5K locals: Minister

Industries, Parliamentary Affairs and Labour & Employment Minister Harshwardhan Chauhan laid the foundation stone for the Manal-Kodga link road in the Shillai Assembly constituency on Monday. The road, to be constructed at a cost of Rs 23 crore, is expected to significantly benefit more than 5,000 residents in the region.

Addressing a public gathering in Kodga, Chauhan emphasised that holistic development of every part of Shillai constituency remains his top priority. He said during the current tenure, developmental works worth over Rs 225 crore have already been approved for the constituency, with several projects currently underway.

The minister said under the Sub-Division of Public Works Department, Sataun, numerous projects are being implemented. These include the Salwala-Sataun road being built at a cost of Rs 15 crore, which will provide an alternative route during blockades on the Shillai route near Kacchi Dhang. Additionally, the Bhaila-Kallatha road (Rs 5.54 crore), Rajpur-Kallatha road (Rs 10.49 crore), Katin Maswa PHC (Rs 1.26 crore), Sataun PHC (Rs 1 crore), Nageta GSSS (Rs 1.90 crore), Sanog GHS (Rs 66 lakh) and the Rajiv Gandhi Day Boarding School in Sataun (Rs 5 crore) are under construction.

Chauhan added that various schemes related to roads, education, health and drinking water are also being executed across the constituency.

Referring to last year’s disaster-related damages worth Rs 10,000 crore, he noted the financial strain on the state, worsened by reduced aid from the Centre. Nonetheless, under CM Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu’s leadership, the state continues to progress. He also announced Rs 20 lakh each for community halls at Shikando and Kodga and Rs 5 lakh each for Rambhol and Mana villages.
