FPJ Dialogue: 'India Has Taught Pakistan A Lesson; Citizens Must Wait For Full Truth On Operation Sindoor,' Says BJP Leader Vinay Sahasrabuddhe
"India has certainly taught Pakistan a lesson, and citizens need to be patient until all information on Operation Sindoor is revealed to understand the real picture of the success of our defence forces," said senior BJP leader Vinay Sahasrabuddhe. In an exclusive dialogue with The Free Press Journal on Thursday, Sahasrabbudhe (67) reiterated that the foreign ministry has amply made it clear that there is no scope for mediation with Pakistan and people should not fall for reckless comments made by international leaders.
Sahasrabuddhe, a former Rajya Sabha MP, said in the age of social media, where information is flooding, people should refrain from making judgements and drawing conclusions. “Information on social media is adulterated. There is a lack of accountability in the media too and stricter rules must be applied to bring in some sanity,” he said on the alarming state of misinformation on the military actions by India and Pakistan.
On the comparison between military actions against Pakistan by the Congress and BJP governments, the BJP leader said that the younger generation now demands result-oriented actions; however, the ceasefire declared on May 10 cannot be compared to the one during the Nehru government. “You let the enemy encroach on our land and then you announce a ceasefire. This is not acceptable. We have been clear on destroying terrorists’ camps supported by Pakistan. Our defence forces have met their targets, ensuring no harm to civilians. We need to realise that the government cannot advertise confidential information. Thus, citizens need to wait until all information on Operation Sindoor is out.”
Speaking on Turkey’s support to Pakistan, Sahasrabuddhe said, “Most of the Islamic countries are recognising India and decorating our prime minister. I am sure diplomatic circles are working on Turkey’s stand. It certainly cannot get away with it. We will have the buttons which can be pressed on the appropriate occasion.”
Sahasrabuddhe, the former BJP National vice- president, also spoke on India’s economic stability. Asked if there needs to be a revisit on ease of going business and revocation of the three farm laws, he said, “Policies like ease of doing business need attention. However, the younger generation now shows more interest in entrepreneurship. The three-farm laws would have brought revolution. But after the intense protests, they had to be revoked. The prime minister had highlighted in his statement that the laws were introduced for the farmers and revoked for the country. The protests had dangerous repercussions in Punjab- the border state, which we cannot afford. However, the government should do more public education and the party needs to be more proactive in revisiting its policies.”
Speaking on the upcoming elections of 24 local bodies in Maharashtra, Sahasrabuddhe said the BJP is confident of having a thumping success similar to the state assembly elections. Asked if the Mahayuti will fight in alliance, he said, “As CM Devendra Fadnavis said, the BJP will ‘mostly’ fight in alliance. However, there have been civic elections in the past, like the Thane Municipal Corporation in 2017, where the BJP and Shiv Sena fought separately. We should not presume the BJP will or will not fight in alliance for all local bodies.”
Clarifying on the signs of a lack of unity in Mahayuti and political instability in Maharashtra, Sahasrabuddhe said the alliance will take a little more time to settle down; however, sooner or later, all things will be okay.
