Declare smuggling of arms, drugs an act of terrorism: Aujla
Member of Parliament Gurjeet Singh Aujla has urged the Prime Minister Narendra Modi that the Central Government should declare drug smuggling from across the International Border as an act of terrorism and take urgent measures for ending the menace.
In a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he said that narco terrorism has continued in border districts unabated. He claimed that more than two lakh people have lost their lives because of the rampant drug abuse in the region and a majority of them were from the Sikh community underlining the fact that it spares no one. This was a continuous and deliberate attack on the youth, families and future of our state, he said.
Aujla said the Indian Government has declared that any terror act would be considered as ‘an act of war’ and cross border smuggling of arms and drugs were no less than terrorism. “It is also an act of war,” he said.
He said despite the availability of advanced technology, flying machines were intruding our air space carrying drugs and dangerous weapons. He said the young generation was leaving the country due to lack of employment opportunity and rampant scourge of drugs. He said the illegal trade were continued with the connivance of police and politicians.
