Mohanlal to star in director Krishand's next, confirms his 'Thudarum' co-star

Malayalam actor-producer Maniyanpillai Raju has confirmed that he is doing his next movie with Mohanlal, to be directed by Krishand. In an interview with Kaumudy Movies, Raju, who shared the screen with Mohanlal in Tharun Moorthy's blockbuster Thudarum, shared his observations on the changing taste of audiences.

"The first round of discussions are over. Mohanlal has now become open to working with newer directors. Krishand is one filmmaker everyone likes, especially film buffs in the age range of 18 to 45, whom we have to take into account. So we have to think along those lines, and listen to the thoughts of our kids, not because we are afraid of them, but because their thought process is correct, unlike our generation's old ideas. What we like may not be necessarily liked by them," said the actor known for his enduring collaborations with Mohanlal and Priyadarshan, both close friends.

Interestingly, Maniyanpillai Raju's son Niranj is one of the lead actors in Krishand's new film Masthishka Maranam, the filming of which is ongoing. The actor is also part of Krishand's SonyLIV web series Sambhava Vivaranam Nalarasangham - The Chronicles of the 4.5 Gang, which Raju says is coming out next month.

Krishand's last release was Purusha Pretham, starring Darshana Rajendran and Prashanth Alexander. His new film Sangarsha Khadana - The Art of Warfare premiered at the International Film Festival of Kerala (IFFK) last year. It is awaiting a wide release.

For his film Aavasavyuham, Krishand won a National Film Award and two Kerala State Film Awards (for Best Film and Best Original Screenplay).

Mohanlal, on the other hand, has Sathyan Anthikad's Hridayapoorvam coming up next, in addition to the Kannada film Vrushabha and Telugu film Kannappa. He is also one of the lead cast members of Mahesh Narayanan's upcoming multi-starrer co-starring Mammootty, Kunchacko Boban, Fahadh Faasil, and Nayanthara.
