Multiple Residents Reported Suffering From Stomach Pain And Diarrhoea In MP's Khargone

Khargone (Madhya Pradesh): A team of district officials contained a water contamination crisis in Mitawal village of Khargone district's Jhirnya development block, on Tuesday.

The rapid response came after multiple residents reported suffering from stomach pain and diarrhoea, prompting collector Bhavya Mittal to dispatch emergency personnel to affected areas.

The response team, consisting of District Panchayat CEO Akash Singh, chief medical and health officer Dr MS Sisodia, SDM Akanksha Karothia, District CEO Shrivastava and Public Health Engineering Department officials, conducted a thorough assessment of the situation upon arrival at Mitawal.

Medical personnel examined approximately 600 residents across 125 households, identifying 39 people with symptoms related to consumption of contaminated water.

Dr Sisodia said all patients are receiving proper treatment at the local hospital and medications are being distributed as needed. Importantly, all affected individuals are now in stable condition.

To identify the exact source of contamination, authorities have collected water and stool samples for laboratory testing. Meanwhile, clean drinking water is being supplied through tankers while the village's regular water sources undergo thorough cleaning and disinfection.

Additional preventive actions include relocating the village's mutton market and instructing the Gram Panchayat to improve drainage systems and maintain cleanliness around water sources.
